John and Lynn are a home remodelers dream client. They are committed to their neighborhood, appreciate the mature trees, love their cul-de-sac, and enjoy their neighbors. Their house is a 1990s production builder home, that they have been remodeling in stages since 2002 to make it theirs. Degnan Design-Build-Remodel was hired to do all of the construction on this home including, a finished basement, kitchen remodel, a three-season room and deck, and water leakage repairs. The most recent renovation is a makeover of the entire second floor as well as the exterior of the home and a master bathroom enlargement.

A Modern Kitchen Layout

John and Lynn's kitchen original kitchen had honey oak raised panel cabinetry and a typical 1990s floor plan. The layout had a u-shaped work area, minimal pantry cabinets, and an extra countertop desk area. The peninsula countertop restricted access to a much-used dinette table. When open, the location of the dishwasher in the peninsula prevented access to the kitchen sink. A new floor plan significantly improved the overall usability of the kitchen. Not only was this project completed without an extravagant budget, but it has also solved the functional needs of the clients and is one in a series of many beautiful updates within the home.

Luxurious Kitchen Cabinetry

Homecrest Cabinetry with crown molding was used throughout the kitchen. They are constructed from maple, with dovetail drawers and finished in the color Bison. The door style is Laurel, and they are soft close.

Brushed nickel cabinet hardware and lighting fixtures match the stainless steel appliances and provided added contrast with the dark stained cabinets.

A Master Bathroom Suite Addition

As part of a remodel of the entire upper level of the home, our clients requested a 6 ft by 14 ft addition over the front porch of the house. This extension provided much-needed space for a master bathroom suite. The addition enabled the construction of a large walk-in shower, private water closet, double sink vanity, and to our pleasant surprise, a second walk-in closet. The new master bath solved the problems of a claustrophobic design, inadequate storage, and no privacy. View additional pictures of this master bathroom suite.

A Finished Basement With Bar

John always dreamed of having a bar in the finished basement. While upgrading the flooring to Platinum Luxury Vinyl and Galante Carpet with Emerald Deluxe Pad, we added a floor drain line for the corner bar. Ample cabinet space, open shelving with task lighting, and a Magic Chef 24" wine and beverage center means you never have to leave the finished basement for a refreshment while watching the game. It’s really something when you go to a boutique hotel bathroom and you think, yeah this is nice, but ours at home is much nicer.
