The Degnan Design Builders team brings years of experience and innovation to every project. Whether building a new home or remodeling your existing space, you can count on the team to work together to create a space that exceeds your expectations.

We proudly serve neighborhoods throughout Madison such as Nakoma, Maple Bluff, Shorewood Hills, West Madison, East Madison, and the University area, as well as the Dane County communities of DeForest, Waunakee, Sun Prairie, Cottage Grove, Verona, Fitchburg, Monona, McFarland, Middleton, and Cross Plains.

Abe Degnan

Abe is the designer and also manages day-to-day business operations. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, School of Architecture and Urban Planning. He has earned his Certified Graduate Remodeler™ (CGR), Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designations through the NAHB.

Abe continues his education through builders associations. He was elected President of the Madison Area Builders Association (MABA) in 2010 and 2013. In the Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA), he has served as a State Director, the 2009-2010 Chair of the WBA Remodelers Council, and the 2011 Chair of the Local Officers Council.

Abe has volunteered for 3 years as the Project Manager of the Madison Area Builders Association’s Green Built Home Makeover. He is an appointee to the Green Built Home steering committee.

Abe enjoys spending time with his wife, Lisa, and children, Zachery, Dylan and Cora. They are avid walkers and bikers; Abe particularly enjoys skiing, wave running, waterskiing, and wake boarding. He volunteers as a 7-8th grade Sunday School teacher at Lord of Love Lutheran Church. Abe served 3 terms on the DeForest Village Board, serving over the years in Planning & Zoning, the Board of Zoning Appeals, Fire Board, and Finance & Administrative committees. He continues on some of the committees as a citizen member.

Amy Volkmann
Office Manager

Amy Volkmann has undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Sociology and a Masters in Business Administration.  After graduating from Lakeland College with her MBA in 2008, she began teaching in both the MBA program and in the undergraduate programs. The classes she teaches are Principles of Marketing, Principles of Management, Integrated Marketing Communications, and Organizational Effectiveness.

Amy worked in municipal government as administrator/clerk/treasurer for over 17 years.  She also managed a golf course for a year and a half before joining the Degnan Design Builders Team.

Andrea Brown
Project Designer and Estimator

Andrea completed her five year undergraduate /Masters degree in Architecture from the University of Kansas. There, she was part of Studio 804, a design-build program that sparked her interest in construction and green construction. The LEED Platinum project she completed received a Holcim award in 2011 and was featured in Architect magazine.

Andrea and her husband, Lane, enjoy traveling, boating, and Badger games together. Andrea also enjoys cooking, tennis, and yoga.

Anthony Caracci
Project Manager

Anthony’s years of experience as a project manager and lead carpenter make him an essential member of the Degnan team. Anthony is the primary Project Manager for all Degnan building and remodeling. His carpentry skills mastery and superior attention to communication make him a valued leader at each site.

Anthony is blessed at home by his wife Michelle and their two children Dominic and Sophia.  They enjoy biking, boating, and many other outside activities together.  Anthony especially likes working on “projects” with Dominic and playing paintball.
