Our clients, Ken and Lu, came to us looking for a way to pull their outdoor space together, and the answer was to build an outdoor kitchen as the space's centerpiece. Their teenagers spend a lot of time outside by the pool with their friends, and an outdoor kitchen is a perfect way for everyone to spend their days outside without having to run between the kitchen, upper grilling deck, and the pool. Ken loves to grill and wanted a complete and functional outdoor kitchen where he and Lu could entertain guests and spend time with the kids. We were happy to help enable afternoons by the pool with a place for drinks and meals. It’s all about having fun in the Wisconsin Summertime!

Creating the Perfect Outdoor Kitchen Space

Ken wanted a KomodoJoe egg grill for his outdoor kitchen. We designed the space to include a traditional gas grill and Ken's egg grill. The homeowners also wanted proper cabinets to hold grilling utensils, a pull-out trash and recycling bin, and room for an undercounter refrigerator. After researching outdoor kitchen cabinet options, we decided on Costco's brand of outdoor cabinetry because of its great value!

The Perfect Outdoor Kitchen Is A Balance Of Functionality And Form

Because of the nature of an outdoor kitchen, we needed to find a countertop that could stand up to the weather and direct sunlight. We couldn't use quartz since it is prone to fading in direct sun and can be damaged by extreme weather. After looking at several options, Ken and Lu chose to go with a limestone countertop. It's a great choice that is resistant to weather and a great value!

This Kitchen Is Built For Outdoor Living

We gave Ken and Lu the unified outdoor space they were seeking. It's the perfect outdoor space where the family can spend their summer hanging out around the pool and cooking lunch and dinner without needing to run in and out of the house.

The craftsmanship that goes into building an outdoor kitchen on an existing pool deck is fun! Providing the perfect reveal between the sloped pool deck and cabinets was a detail that the carpenters nailed! How nice!
